You can record and send a voice message to a customer directly from the Inbox — handy when typing is slow or a spoken reply feels more personal. It arrives on the customer’s phone as a normal WhatsApp voice note.
1

Open a conversation

Click Inbox in the left sidebar and open the chat you want to reply to.
2

Start recording

With the message box empty, the send button turns into a microphone. Click it and allow microphone access the first time your browser asks. Recording starts immediately and a timer shows how long you have been speaking.
3

Stop or cancel

Click Stop when you are done, or Cancel to throw the recording away without sending.
4

Preview, then send

Play the recording back to check it. Click the send button to deliver it, or the bin icon to discard and re-record.
The microphone only appears when the message box is empty. As soon as you type something, the button switches back to send for a text reply.

What the customer sees

The customer receives a standard WhatsApp voice note — a play bar with a waveform — exactly like one recorded inside WhatsApp itself.

Transcripts

Every voice reply you send is automatically transcribed and shown beneath the player in the conversation, along with an English translation. This keeps the thread searchable and gives your AI staff the context of what was said if the customer keeps chatting.
Recording uses your browser’s microphone, so it works on the web app over a secure (HTTPS) connection. If you do not see the microphone button, check that your browser has microphone permission enabled for StoreTalk.
